I feel like I could live a thousand lifetimes and still not fully fathom the love of God. I think if Christmas is about anything, it is about the love of God, manifested in His son Jesus Christ.
Lately I have been listening to an old song on repeat: “How He Loves Us” by the David Crowder Band.
The more I listen to it, the more I feel my identity forming solidly around me, turning from wavering to unshakeable.
You see, what I’m learning is that our identity can only be found in the love of God. He calls us His beloved children. We are loved by God. What a simple, miraculous truth! I pray the Lord would let that settle into our hearts, until we live as though we believed it.
What would that look like, to live in the full knowledge of our identity in Christ?
It might look something like not hanging our heads in shame every time we mess up. For we are under GRACE, not condemnation.
It might look like expressing ourselves freely in worship every day, not afraid what people might think. For we are not submissive to fear, but to GOD.
There is freedom in the love of God.
It might simply look like a smile. For how wonderful is it to be loved by God! Nothing can separate us from it. Not death, nor life, nor anything in between.
There is freedom in the love of God. Freedom from fear, worry, accusation, jealousy, comparison, depression, sickness, shame, guilt. The list goes on. God’s love is so perfect, that when we realize it, when we fully and humbly receive it into our hearts, it leaves no room for anything else. It casts out all fear! Praise God that it is possible to live a life completely devoid of fear, and completely full of love, peace, hope, and joy!
There is so much joy in the knowledge that we are with God now, and because of His love, we will be with Him for eternity!
That was something God revealed to me a couple years ago in college. I was so stressed about little things like homework and boys, that I was letting it steal my joy. But then God told me that I was an eternal creature, and that these small things were only temporal.
He told me how true joy is not an emotion but a state of being. It is founded in the unshakeable God. Therefore, it is unshakeable. The storm may rage and roar around you, but Peace Himself dwells inside you. Do not be afraid.
When God, speaks, take notes! I wrote it down, and am glad I did. For I’m still having to go back to it again and again. I pray it helps you realize, like I did, that we don’t have to carry around heavy burdens. They aren’t meant for the backs of the children of God. Because of God’s love for you, He takes what’s weighing you down, and fills you with Himself, that you may rise above.
Love you guys! Be blessed.
The storm may rage and roar around you, but Peace Himself dwells inside you. Do not be afraid.
